Each mushroom is unique and so each MycoNutri product is unique. Produced in the UK, MycoNutri’s range of 12 single mushrooms and 5 combination products use selected mushrooms from leading growers around the world and are formulated to deliver the full health benefits of each species.

For some mushrooms, such as Cordyceps, extracellular levels of important components, in this case Cordycepin and other nucleoside derivatives, are particularly high and so we use mycelial biomass
to capture these compounds. In others, such as Coriolus (Trametes versicolor), Agaricus subrufescens (formerly Agaricus blazei/brasiliensis), Mesima (Phellinus linteus), Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus), Shiitake (Lentinula edodes) and Snow Fungus (Tremella fuciformis) , levels of the immunologically important polysaccharides (beta-glucans and proteoglycans) are low in the mycelial biomass and so we supplement it with polysaccharide-rich hot-water extracts.

In other mushrooms traditionally taken as aqueous decoctions or teas, such as Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) and Chaga (Inonotus obliquus), triterpenoid and other phenolic compounds play a large part in their unique properties and extracts are again preferred, in accordance with traditional use.

Research on Maitake (Grifola frondosa) has shown the efficacy of combinations of fruiting body and purified beta-glucan and MycoNutri Maitake uses this proven combination while in Lion’s Mane (Hericium erinaceus), the fruiting body and mycelium have been shown to contain different active compounds and so we combine mushroom fruiting body with mycelial biomass and for Honey Mushroom (Armillaria mellea) levels of indole compounds are higher in the culture medium so an extract of this is combined with the mushroom mycelium.
